Poems by Maria Miraglia

I love you dear
since long
since you were hidden
in a cosy place

caressed and cuddled
albeit not seen
but tenderly felt
your movements and games
your little hands and feet
beating against my womb

we heard sweet music
and I softly swinging
sang old lullabies
to make you fall asleep
my arms embracing you
still growing in me

how great my anxiety and joy
observing my body
slowly changing shape

and I thought of you
your tiny gracious face
your innocent eyes
an angel sent me
for divine will

and I spent all my days
dreaming of the time
you could pronounce Mom
the sweetest word of all.
