Memories of juvenile valentines

The tiny tingling in the toes
The baby drops of sweat
Trickling down the small of your back
The harried haste of hurrying
The surreptitious slinking away
The guarded ears alert to sound
Eyes watching each shadowy form
As you hid in a corner
To read that first grubby
Love letter written on a
Lined note book paper
With the wrong HB pencil
Ah ! That rush of adrenaline
Ah the beetroot colouring
Of your sun tanned countenance !
