Poem by Roula Pollard
LOVE, BREAD, POETRY, REASON
When love is unattainable and forces
Negative take me over, I write a poem.
When life is unreadable, when I regain my eyesight
When I recover from illness, self defeat, I write a poem.
When love is crucified, I write a poem about its resurrection.
When any storm hits this land and my home darkens, I write a poem.
When self-doubt, doubt establishes its mind, its pattern, I write a poem.
When I remember starvation, people in need of bread, water, schools, care
I Visualize bread, potatoes, melons, oranges of love, cereal, I write a poem.
When I recover my strength, when cold does not dare inhabit my bones
I write a spring, I write a song, I write love, I write a warmth poem
When I win all battles, self, national misery, when peace returns
In my heart, when all dawn starts and the sky is all positive
I search my heart, find my soul, my soul writes a poem.
When God visits my heart, I kneel, am grateful
I write a prayer-poem.
