Lipstick stained tobacco / Poem by Chinedu Jonathan Ichu

Poem by Chinedu Jonathan Ichu

Lipstick stained tobacco

she visited his apartment
but chose to remain invisible
she posses a secret
that cannot be shared
she vowed it will accompany her
to the basement of her graveyard shift
but she changes her mind
and goes atop a mountain instead
she makes a hollow in a sycamore
whispers the secret into its carcass
and covers it with fallen crushed ember
he in turn visits a ruined monastry
sits calmly by its roaring fire place
he retrives her slumbering secret
and whispers for sometime
into a hollow in a crumpled paper wall…
