Changling

If I could change, I would.
Not for you, because of you

If I could change, I would.
I would feel less,
I would hurt less,
I would cry less,
And miss you less.

If I could change, I would.
I would be stronger,
I would not need you,
Your thoughts,
Your words,
Your touch,
Or your love.

If I could change, I would.
I would become the wolf,
The bitch I feel inside.
Growling, snarling, and wanting to get out.
If I could change, I would.
I would disappear into her,
And never come out.

If I could change, I would.
Not for you, because of you.

Choose To Love

I am tied.
Tied to you, to them,
To the ones who love me,
And to the ones who hate me.
We are all tied.

Don’t you feel it?
This cord, as thin as a spider’s web
As tenuous as a whisper,
As strong as titanium.
And never wavering.

It’s not a cord you can see,
Not one you can touch.
You must feel it,
Sense it in the way you see the stars
And feel small next to the sky.
In the way you stand by the sea
And feel powerless in its wake.

We are all tied.
Through the connections of the universe
And the way each of us
Bounces off of the other
In a never ending stream of atomic energy.

It doesn’t matter if you hate me
Or them.
It doesn’t matter if you love me
Or anyone.
It doesn’t matter, because we are tied.

Irrevocably tied,
Just as the Moon is tied to the Earth
And the heart is tied to the soul
We are all tied,
As a mother is to her child.

Can we take this cord
To hold one another
Instead of hanging each other?
Hold each other, love each other
Not just for our similarities,
But for our differences as well?

Because we are tied, all of us.
I am tied, so I choose to love.
