Poems by Shalini Samuel

Poems by Shalini Samuel
My mothers’ potion
Mild fever did pin me down
I try to recuperate slowly
With the help of a Paracetamol
And a cup of hot water
Little did I eat, little did I rest
The strangulating cold and cough threatens
As i have million chores to complete
Go away illness, go away to Venus
Visit not earth, visit not my home
Go to nether land on a permanent vaccation
Go away now, go away immediately- yet
Come back when i need to bunk work!
Unbearable I dip you in my mother’s Kashayam(potion)
Drink it once and you will never come back
I know, it tastes like a drink from hell
Its the best antidote for your adamancy
Come, dance, drink and run
Your doom is destined
We have Ayurvedic home made remedies
Come to our home if you wish to test its valour.
The Dead Touch
Numb hands move over green branches
Trembling soul shudders – bitter cruelty
Scared, the foliage hides under the meadows
Along with the dust of the deceased – to perish
Beyond evil eyes, the seeds find solace
The day of resurgence, they long for
One by one, the fruits go into hiatus
The green succumbs to the dead touch
Alas, killing every inch of life
The dead hand feels the weak twigs
Resurrection of the prey, the dead craves
Through it he wishes to come back alive
Sinless and blameless past he wishes to create
Consequences force him to resuscitate the kill
The dead is dead, it cannot breathe again
Yet the seed is resting somewhere in the wild.
The germinated seeds will catch him, one day
When HE forgives- over the passage of time
Musical Musing
As my heart sways
music entices my ears.
I see music everywhere
when the bangles tingle
and anklets dance in the air.
It pierces through me
rejuvenating every dull vein
you become my energy
Oh music, I love you.
when the strings vibrate
happiness springs in me
I feel the divine coming closer
mesmerized, with closed eyes
I forget myself as you enter my ears
I cling to you, like a child to its mother
In your bosom, I find rest
when I feel the strings of a violin
It renovates my broken heart
Stress and failures-
a part of every life
You learn at every fall
You rise high after every lesson
Release your bitter garbage
Fill your life with beauty and charm
May eternal grace of art hug you
Hold its wings and fly above
Above all problematic volcanoes.
