THE MOST DIVISIBLE NOUN / Poem by Dr. Jernail Singh Anand

Poem by Dr. Jernail Singh Anand

Truth is a divisible noun;
The truth of one person
is often different from the other.

Socrates died but
we are alive because
we have compromised our truth.

We find it
better to live broken pieces
than being sent back to the factory.

Ocean has to
break into water bottles
and ice cubes in a drunkard’s glass;

Who worships mountains
but the figures
cut off them are are treated as gods.

Only a glass of drinking water,
not the ocean which
quenches my thirst and gives me life

Death too is a truth
but who courts it
except in small doses every night?

In every bit
there is truth although
we dub it false and fake.

Come to man my dear!
The earth is truth that shapes him
And it informs energy bit of him.
