Syria is still in fire / Poem by Hana Shishiny

Poem by Hana Shishiny

Syria is still in fire

How can I go far
When all I need is a flower
A ceiling..a door ajar
A neighbor..to spend the hour…

A peaceful sky of morning
A jasmine scent of spring
My dream to climb the mountain
In summer..a family and a ring…

What is all that I hear
Bombs..and chemical tools
Killings..suffering to fear
My world became so cruel…

The aroma of spring have changed
No smell of wet soil..no blooming flowers
At night that soft breeze
Passing like a slumber
Leaden with devilish noise
And the odor of gun powder…

How long can I remain..waiting always for more
Accepting the injustice ,Living this horrible war
Endless…as left in the world’s hands
Protecting our rights..as all of them pretend…
