RIPPED WORDS / Poem by Maria Dulce Leitao Reis

RIPPED WORDS

I rip the words in a thousand pieces …
I rip words out with anger and pain …
And I throw them in the angry Hurricane
which violently …
Come and slam my door !
No more embarrassment …
I will not hurt anyone else …
Neither mine nor your heart …

I shelter myself inside me…
Where I always find accommodation …
What’s going on out here … I do not care!

I punish myself …
And I scourge myself severely …
For always being walking….
On the opposite direction …
I do not break the rules …
For joy or malice …
Words spring from the mouth …
Without my being able to brake …
It is my holy naiveté …

Now …
With the words ripped …
It’s no longer worth it, amend the sonnet …
I lost my great love …
That I had thought so big …
But after all it was small …
Did not resist a setback …
I had sent roses …
But only the thorns came …

I went to buy a padlock …
To close the heart in the chest …
I took four turns on the key …
Do not go the crazy one
Wanting to escape from prison …
And put me back into trouble !

Now I’m just going to love the next …
As if it were my brother!
