Poem by Syedah Maryam Iqba
My Eyes Aspire to Admire
My eyes aspire to admire what I can see not,
My ears hope to listen which I can hear not,
My feet love to advance where I can walk not,
My heart wants to pound where I can feel not,
I am a captive of my own struggle with myself,
I am my own critic, I am my own adversary,
I am my own villain, I am my own opposer,
My admiring, my listening, my advancing,
And my pounding, every desire is human.
Admire me not for what I am not,
Blame me not for what I am not,
I am a human, are you not?
