African Elephant

An African elephant
Is thrice larger than
A double decker bus,
And has wings on the head
To fly to Heaven without
Being checked for balance.

An African elephant seldom bark;
None stops him from biting
Without barking like a mad dog.
An African elephant
Has got daggers as teeth
For tearing skins of civilians.

In his obelisk of nose, a rod hangs;
And winnowing pans for ears,
To hear sneezing grasses;
Grasses that smile have broken teeth.
Don’t sneeze, elephant will hear you.

An African elephant
Is the only animal
That advises his advisors
As he sits on his cowboy stool
And cackles like a laughing hyena,
To direct the business of the plains.

An African elephant
Has baobab legs
For trampling on
The liberty of grasses;
Under the African elephant’s feet,
You find fractured dreams
And fractured spinal cords
Of withering little grasses.
Grasses beneath the elephant’s legs.

On Love

If hate be a sword,
Sharper than the devil,
Let love be thy armour,
Dressed in your heart,
That when hate stabs thee,
It is the sword that feels the pain,
It blunts its own tooth.
He lies most that loves himself more,
And hates his brother the most,
And tells God, `God, I love you so much!`
If you hate your brother,
You are the greatest liar of God’s lover.
Love your enemy
The way you love yourself
For a weak person that loves
Is more than a conquer than hates,
Strength lies not in hate but love.
Show love and ashame the devil.
The devil finds more joy in hate
And more pain in love.
