My desires / Poem by Sunita Paul

Poem by Sunita Paul

My desires

I desire to be a carefree bird
Flying up high in the sky
Where no evils of this world could touch me
And I remain pure as I wanna be.

I desire to grow into a beautiful butterfly
From an ugly caterpillar
Flutter my colourful wings
Flowers to flowers I would swing.

I desire to grow into a strong woman
From the timid girl I used to be
Fight against all odds of life
Stay calm be it love or strife.

And I desire to become a child again
Nestled in my mother’s arms
Ohh I desire time standstill there
And I no longer have to bear

The changing times of this harsh life
Where I lose my heart and cry in pain
I don’t desire to go back again
Into this heinous human chain.
