BE LIGHT AND PEACE / Poem by Maria Dulce Leitão Reis

BE LIGHT AND PEACE

Of fatigue is made my look …
And of clay my smile …
Pieces of me…
Wandering in the moonlight …
Loose hair wrapped in the wind …
Waiting for someone …
May it be light and peace to love …

From atom to atom, I skip the dewy morning of faith.

Hybrid screams pierce my eardrums …
And they rip me the clothes I sewed!

They pass me by, the messengers of the rain …
They unload loads, without pity on my back …
I sit squatting in my fragility …
I rest my tiredness …
While I watch the passage of the corsican….
To Eternity …!

Restful is now my look…
And of kisses, my smile …

I regenerate in the immensity of this sea …
Where I revitalize hope …
And I enter with confidence …
In the waves pregnant of laughter!
