MEVLÂNA ( RUMÎ)
Mevlana was born on September 30, 1207 in the city of Belh in Horasan region, which is located on the borders of Afghanistan today. Mevlana’s father, Hüseyin Hatibî’s son Bahaeddin Veled, was the leader of the city of Belh and received the title of “Sultan of the Scholar”. The daughter of his mother Belh Sultan Rukneddin is Princess Mümine Hatun.
Due to the upcoming Mongol invasion, his father left the city of Belh with his family and close friends. His father’s first stop was Nishabur, and Nishabur met with Scholar Ferîdüddin Attar. Despite the fact that Mevlâna is small, Ferîdüddin Attar’s has attracted interest. His father went from Nişabur to Baghdad, then to Küfe and then to Mecca. After fulfilling the task of pilgrimage, he went to Jerusalem and then to Damascus. After Damascus, he came to Karaman after Aleppo, Malatya, Erzincan, Sivas, Kayseri, Niğde, and settled in Karaman medresa, which Subaşı Sultan Musa built.
His father, who came to Karaman in 1222, remained for seven years. Mevlana was married in 1225 in Karaman with the daughter of Şerefeddin Lala, Gevher Hatun. Mevlana of this marriage had two sons, Sultan Velede and Alâeddin Çelebi. After losing Mevlana Gevher Hatun, he made his second marriage with a child widow Kerra Hatun. Mevlana’s wife, Muffereddin, two sons called Emir Âlim Çelebi and a daughter named Melike Hatun came to the world.
In those years, a large part of Anatolia was under the rule of the Seljuk State. Konya was the capital of the Great Seljuk State. Konya was filled with scholars, artisans and works of art. The Seljuk State had the most beautiful years, the ruler of the state was Alâeddin Keykubad. Alâeddin Keykubad invited Mevlana’s father from Karaman to Konya and asked him to settle in Konya. His father accepted the Sultan’s invitation and came to Konya on 3 May 1228. The Sultan met his father, family, friends with a magnificent ceremony and allocated the Altunapa ( İplikçi ) Madrasa to them.
Mevlana’s father died in Konya on 12 January 1231. Seljuk Palace’s rose garden was selected as a grave. Today Mevlana Dergah is used as a museum. When his father passed away, his father’s students were gathered around Mevlana. Mevlana gave sermons in the İplikçi Madrasa, many people were coming to listen.
Mevlana was compared with Şems-i Tabrizi on 15 November 1244. But their ties did not last long Shams suddenly died. It was Shams-i Tabrizi who made Mevlana a Mevlana. Then Selahaddin Zerkubi and Husameddin Çelebi tried to fill the place of Şems.
Mevlana’s life was described as “Praise, pustim, burned”. Mevlana passed away on Sunday, December 17, 1273. Sadreddin Konevi would make Mevlana’s funeral on Mevlana’s will, but he could not stand to lose Mevlana and he passed out. For this reason Kadı Siraceddin made Mevlana’s funeral.
The real name of Mevlana is Muhammad, and the nickname is Celaleddin. The name in Europe is known as Rumi. Mevlana was the sultan of the hearts, people who were famous throughout history, the whole world was influenced by him. Seljuk Sultans, Mevlana to Konya from the time of development until the death of love and respect, were found in the immediate vicinity of Mevlana. Mevlana used Persian in his works. Mevlana’s works are Mesnevi, Divan-ı Kebir, Fihi mâ Fih, Mecalis-i Seb’a, Mektûbat. UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, declared 2007 the year of the Ritual of Mevlana.

“I was smart yesterday, I wanted to change the world, today I am a wise man, I changed myself” (MEVLÂNA).
“Do not look for a fault to find someone, if you look for it, you can find it, and then cover yourself up.” (MEVLÂNA).
“Life is a breath, as long as you take it, life is a cage, as long as you stay. Life is a harvest, as long as you have fallen” (MEVLÂNA).
“I am angry because I can not tell my feelings, I am angry because I can not tell my language.” (MEVLÂNA).
“Are you angry at the hand that does not hold the hand of the hand, or angry at yourself for stretching it to one that will not hold it? (MEVLÂNA).
“The richer you are, the more you can eat as much as you can, the more you take the test to the sea, the more water it can get, the less it remains” (MEVLÂNA).
“Rumi Mevlana: Swallow if you are the poison of love, forget about you, honey, forget it.” (MEVLÂNA).
“Do not worry when people misunderstand you, what they hear is your voice but their own thoughts in your mind.” (MEVLÂNA).
“If all the stolen doors were opened immediately, hope, patience,v and willingness were not understood at all” (MEVLÂNA).
