THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD (شروق وغروب) / Poem by Mandour Saleh Hikel

Poem by Mandour Saleh Hikel

THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD

The fear kisses my Diaspora
It confines it with a messy mess
With the sunset dress
Sunset of what was once known
as MY LIFE
AH..
Inevitable fate…

It is time to leave
I try my best
Rephrase the past
In words
Words…
That is all what I have had all the time
WORDS…
My eternal random heritage
Of memories and tales
WORDS
That are always restricted…
With Starting and end point
The moments of birth and death
With that imaginary line …
That extends between them
Up to an infinite number
For words…
That write me a poem
painting my life in incidents
that I lived
As THEY wanted me to
Always oscillating
Between illusion of THE CHOICE
And the well-being of the MUST
Yet…
They ALWAYS awaken me
Those thousands of question marks
That haven’t been yet raised
And answers
That have freed me and my mind
Of the restrictions of fear
FROM THE SUNSET DRESS
