MARY, DO YOU HEAR ME? / Poem by Miranda Shehu Xhilaga

Poem by Miranda Shehu Xhilaga

MARY, DO YOU HEAR ME?

I didn’t know you Mary
I never met you Mary

But I have seen your face before
And I have wiped your tears before
And I have laughed with you before
And I have fallen for Shelley

I didn’t know you Mary
I never met you Mary

But I have kissed like you before
And I have loved like you before
And I have drowned like you before
And I still drown daily

I didn’t know you Mary
I never met you Mary

But I have made choices just like yours
And I have lost and I have cursed
And I have sure seen Frankenstein
And I have fought for what is mine

I didn’t know you Mary
I never met you Mary
But we are sisters Mary
So this is who we are
And we regret nothing…
