I’LL JUST STOP LOVING YOU / Poem by Maria Dulce Leitao Reis

Poem by Maria Dulce Leitao Reis

I’LL JUST STOP LOVING YOU

I’ll just stop loving you
When the sea water dries
The shells melt
The trees light up
Of multicolored leaves
I’ll just stop loving you
When in the rivers run gold
Contouring the corals
The cricket mating the beetle
And the humans live in the corrals
I’ll just stop loving you
When the brooms give roses
Sound is faster than light
The stones give birth to rats
And the rats to butterflies
I’ll just stop loving you
When the sun turns black
And the moon hides to cry
The clouds raining candy floss
And I drink the tears of the moon
I’ll just stop loving you
Do you know when my love
When the sky collapses
And the angels come down to sing
Beautiful lullabies
Making trumpet a flower.
