Poem by Ibrahim Honjo
PROMISED LAND
This is the Promised Land
I settled down here
This is the Promised Land
But nobody ever promised her to me
Why is this Promised Land
And what does she have
More than my homeland
Come to the Promised Land all of you
I promise you
Here you will be a foreigner today
Like in the homeland
Where you will be a foreigner
It does not matter
Do not mourn the homeland
In the Promised Land
Because here the sky sheds tears
You don’t
