I CANNOT TALK / Poem by Ibrahim Honjo

Poem by Ibrahim Honjo

I cannot talk like stone and ice
Nor deny fire
Black devils are looking over me
Winds from birch forests are drying my eyes

They barely told me about destiny
About my temper and my spasm
I cannot talk like stone
Nor can I rinse fury with tears

I gave presents to waters and graves
I burned curses on December fire
My hands were not trembling
My legs were not staggering
Just my heart wanted to stop peacefully

I am not keeping my eyes closed because of this new pain
It is all the same to me if someone is looking at me
Once again, I deny the existence of God
They have been angry with me since the day I was born
Because of this I chitchat with the abyss of dead waters.
