UMA NOITE NO CAMPO DE REFUGIADOS

No campo de refugiados do Afeganistão
Dias tórridos ‘Sem Água’
Fila desesperada de longas horas
Um balde apenas para cada tenda

Olhos concupiscentes do guarda
Súplicas de gestos de todo o horror
Condição prévia que ele coloca
Para um balde extra; uma noite com ele

Nunca uma noite, mas luta explosiva
Nunca amanhece ou espreita o sol
Shahnaz uma menina de catorze anos
Passa a noite inteira acordada com uma ideia
Na sua tenda um balde para seis!
Naqueles cinco dias ela precisa de mais água

Inquieta Shahnaz faz um acordo
Melhor ser a Begum do guarda
Do que arder em cada segundo
Poder tomar banho e lavar-se à vontade

Esses dias do mês passarão sem angústia
Depois o guarda acima dos sessenta
Terá mais água do que a que for precisa

Shahnaz de catorze anos escolhe o caminho
Vai ter com o guarda vagarosamente
“Tio, quer casar comigo?”

Dr. Maria do Sameiro Barroso 

Maria Do Sameiro Barroso, born in Braga (Portugal), is a Medical Doctor, specialist in General and Family Medicine, a multilingual poet, a Germanist, translator, essayist and researcher in the areas of Portuguese and German Literature, Translation Studies and History of Medicine. She published over forty books of poetry in Portuguese, Spanish, French, English, Albanian, Serbian and Macedonian. Her poems are represented in over one hundred national and international magazines and anthologies, translated into more than twenty languages. She published a vast translation work of predominantly German and Castilian-speaking authors, one of the most outstanding being the translation of Mozart’s original Facsimile of the “Magic Flute”. She is invited to national and international poetry festivals, organizer of anthologies and cultural events. She is the editor of the magazine “Espaço do Ser – Poesia, Tradução, Ensaio” and collaborator of the Spanish digital literary magazine “Blue Cage”. She has been awarded national and international literary prizes, the last being the “Prayer of Saint Teresa” Prize Gjakovë, Kosovo 2019.

We met in the International Multilingual Poets Meet at Vijaywada in 2018 .
