Poem by Lily Swarn
WHERE NO DADDIES VANISH
( a plea for peace )
Let’s create a world of our own
Where no guns pound
And no daddies vanish
Where the realms of the heart
Mesmerise with ditties of “shanti”
Where seekers come to the Ganges with hopes and prayers
Let’s create a world where
No wolves prey on unsuspecting girls
Where terrorist camps
Are not the answer to children’s summer camps
Where cup cakes and dolls and pretty pink frocks
Are every girl’s right
Where no bunkers hide
The souls of cowering mortals
Where mines don’t maim and mutilate the limbs of brethren
Where coochie cooing pigeons don’t have to flee their nests
Let’s create such a world where AK 47 does not strike fear
Where mamas don’t fear that soon their young sons
Will be plucked out of their hands
Where the fear of biological warfare could make monsters out of men
Where chemicals kill instead of healing human beings
Where nuclear fission is the main course of the meal !
The starters are the drones that hover overhead
Let’s plan a new menu
For peace on earth
Come , let us pledge
To boycott this spectre of war
Come , let us join hands in unison!
