Sisters in the rain (Zusjes in de regen) / Poem by Hannie Rouweler

-Durante La Pioggia
schilderij: Gaetano Bellei (1857-1922)

Sisters in the rain

Laugh. Smile at everything.
Laugh at all those foolish things
that happened to you.
Depriving the sunlight.
Laugh at the morning, the afternoon
the evening. When something disappears
and suddenly
takes on a different form, unrecognizable.
Laugh at the rain.

Zusjes in de regen

Lach. Lach om alles.
Lach om al die dwaasheden
die jou overkwamen. Die jou
het zonlicht ontnamen.
Lach om de ochtend, de middag
de avond. Als iets verdwijnt en ineens
een andere vorm aanneemt,
onherkenbaar.
Lach om de regen.
