Love measure me / Poem by Nutan Sarawagi

Poem by Nutan Sarawagi

Love measure me

In teaspoons of sweetness mixed with bits of bitterness
In its horror a ‘morrow ‘
full of sorrow
In thermometers that swing high
in temperatures to touch the sky
in pelting snowstorm its love to take by
in beads of sweat a missed heart beat
beating to a heart that no longer beats
Where there is nothing left to break
Only a coldness to rake

If love could be measured
in metres or barometers
where would we be
in it to see
all the love to take in me
with measures of love
in its unmeasurable
misery
For when in your depth
You have sunk so low
Where there is nothing left
But your love in it to see

Love please forgive me
With you I can no longer live
to be that immeasurable love
that lives in me
Measured in you
Unmeasured in me.
