Now I am the air! (Tani jam ajër!) – Juljana Mehmeti / Translated into English by Arben Hoti!

Poem by Juljana Mehmeti

Now I am the air!

When the evening is hanging darkened towards the bank
and the barefoot touches the wet trembling,
moving towards the veins like an auburn lava
raised from the volcanoes
of the ancient underground where the past is reposing
the howling echo up to the place,
where the oceans are discharging their dissolved azure
the source of life,
the fastened Lazarus cloth
to the remained last edge,
Like the last ring drawn to the hanging wings, the space which divides the sky
disengaged from the captivated chain with the threads of hope,
pale colors of the existence disappointment
of the footprints of the time …

The everlasting is raised with the splendor vision
to the last ring
of the constrained belief,
like a major retrieval
Rotated to the furrows of the roaming for existence
flourishing everyday
petals of wild flowers,
as an elixir of the revived life…

Tani jam ajër!

Kur mbrëmja varet e muzgët drejt bregut
dhe këmbët e zbathura drithërimën e lagësht prekin,
lëvrirë dejeve në llavë të kuqërremtë
zgjuar vullkaneve
shkëputur zinxhirit robëruar me fijet shprese,
ngjyrash të zbehta zhgënjimit egzistencë
gjurmëve të kohës…

E përjetshmja ngrihet madhështisë shikim
në të fundit unazë
shtrëngesës besim,
si rikthimi i madh
rrotulluar në brazdat e të endurit qenësi
bulëzuar për çdo ditë
në petale lulesh të egra,
si eliksir i jetës përtërirë…

  1. Beautiful words, very deep and with great imagery. I was touched and fascinated. Great translation! I wish I could read the original. What language is it written in? And a fantastic and beautiful poet. Would like to know and read more of her work
