Old Age / Poem by Leonard Dabydeen

Poem by Leonard Dabydeen

Old Age

Now old age begins to toll
watches me taking a nod
as I sit by the computer
after fingering the keyboard
with my ocean of thoughts.

Now old age teases my nerves
and my lovely lady prods at me
why don’t you go to bed and sleep
but I have lost my pillow
and I do not recognize my bed.

Now old age compiles thoughts
and I play with my thin-set archives
remember when I was young
but not too old to keep an eye
on damsels batting for me.

Now old age slowly brings me
to final chapters of this good book
this I have read with no regrets
I wish I could return where I was half way
but greed has no place for satisfaction.
