MUSIC

The light sees us with our-own eyes
with open heavens and hands reaching for God

without keys and lines the notes are singing in us
lifting the chest of the man
that exhale us

the universe creates perfect music in us
when we feel that we are not alone

IMPRISONED BREATHING

with the time’s rain drops
and a chamomile tea bag
I washed out all of the pain
that lived on the lower jaw
under that street
with unriped and loud conifers rolling on her body

my breathing stayed imprisoned
among the iron rails
of the days without a name

TRANSPARENT SYNAPSES

I had bitten the apple only once
and I got pinched by the word from the pentagram inside
and from the tree up above your head
I told you that you are nude
and that you don’t need anybody
and that you can give birth to Adam all by yourself, now
and I gave you leaves so you could imprison yourself in a cage
in walnut shell – with transparent synapses

From Our Home

You gather things according to their seasons
a bunch of grapefruit flowers for autumn
plums for spring

We are the pulse of air, deep abyss, breasts of soil
we choose warm places to set our furniture
uncluttered places to put our tables and chairs

We drop our worries at the dinner table
with chopsticks we pick vegetables from the field afar
the fish bites on the bait inside our clay pot

We love the footprints near the rice stubble
deep wells, streams and rivers, ponds and puddles

Don’t sit in the room too long
go out into the field, out to the river bank
where leaves grow green and fish wriggle

Bite on fresh pineapple or sweet orange
and let juice drop on brown soil.

The Flower of Mount Yên Tử(*)

It blooms on the mountain top
Serene in strong winds
Under the clouds of change

Seven hundred years ago
The Buddha King Trần Nhân Tông
Lowered his head when passing by

You and I
Lower our heads when passing by
The children
Also lower their heads
When passing by

As we descend the mountain
We meet the pilgrims
Holding small bamboo canes
All eyes turn upward
As we amass heat to burn the flower to its roots.
___________

Ang Bulaklak sa Bundok ng Yên Tử(*)

Namulaklak ito sa ibabaw ng bundok
Tahimik kahit malalakas ang hangin
Sa ilalim ng papalit-palit na mga ulap

May pitong-daan taon na ang nakalipas
Ang Budhang si King Trần Nhân Tông
Iniyuyuko kanyang ulo tuwing siya ay nagdaraan

Ikaw at ako
