Poem by Dr. Jernail Singh ANAND
OF WORDS WHICH SAY NOTHING
When you can maintain absolute neutrality,
And say what does not offend
you have mastered
The art of trepiz dancing.
Now what you say will be absolutly irrelevant.
Because this is what the people expect.
A wind which has learnt the art
Of flowing along the lanes
And stopping at shut window panes.
When winds bring messages
Which dogs find inconvenient and laced with danger,
They cannot be trained by anybody
Not to issue a barking notice.
Birds too when perceive danger,
Do not bother about human controls,
Start cooing dangerously
And violate prohibitory orders.
Only men, trained in civilizing arts,
Know the art of aquiscence,
Of not barking even when offended,
Or at the most say words which have nothing to say.
