MUNDANE DESIRE / Poem by  Asoke Kumar Mitra

Poem by  Asoke Kumar Mitra

MUNDANE DESIRE

Memories are like grains of sand
Drowned and alive
Like the flaming wild roses, frangipani, silky tulips
Unsung songs hovered on your lips

A forgotten melody in the beating heart
A breathless song in the racing blood
In restless dreams, walked alone
And the naked moon without speaking and listening

In a hidden place of your heart, you wrote songs to sing
That lips never share
Your words like silent raindrops fell
You wrote on the metro subway walls

You said partings give birth of great poems
Moon whispered you wrote a music
It was on the last page of the book
My eyes were stabbed by moonbeam
