New Rainbows (with love, to my grandson Franqui in the distance) / Poem by Susana Roberts

New Rainbows
(with love, to my grandson Franqui in the distance)

The isolated moon in quarantine
so absent and so pretty
is inside her silver circle
on the teacher’s board.

one year before, another squad
where went the colors?, the chalks?
and today the winner of the game
is the mouse.

Behind the big screen
your reality is being created.
in the very early morning
the stars in your room
tell me about your dreams
spider man costumes by your side

Then there is laziness, bicycle,
guitar playing and video calls
the park and the large swimming pool.

This year throats are full of knots
in confinment’s tapestries
nostalgious afternoons
covered with velvety spaces
full of rumors and hopes
like birds here and there
new games will dawn and
we still will be called bosses
in the outer cosmos.

But someday my beautiful boy
the nests will be joined
from the night to day and
the whole in my soul
will touch all in your’s
over a blessed land
of new rainbows.
