Poem by Jagdish Prakash
FAME IS NOT THE NAME
Standing on a precipice and writing poems
Thinking of glory, name and fame
Nothing is achieved when desired
Ambitions keep the talent mired
Legion of poets, past and present
Never aimed at fame
When they wrote
And never wished their names
To be celebrated
And they be decorated
They wrote to douse a flame
In their thoughts and singing emotions
Keats, Shelly, Shakespeare and Frost.
Wrote what their hearts desired most.
