BIRLAND (ΤΗΣ ΚΑΡΔΙΑΣ ΠΑΤΡΙΔΑ) / Poem by Smaragdi Mitropoulou

Under the desert sky
and next to the river that silently crosses the palm trees
a land blessed by gods
waits for the wayfarers.
Soil and water, sun, bread and love…
Through the roar of the wind
and wild waves
I, the stranger, have been wandering around for centuries alone
without my mother’s amulet.
The night when the moon became one with the sea
an invisible hand led me here…
My soul found
a homeland to rely on
a port as a shelter
and the devout birds to greet
with a ferry-line full of dreams coming and going.

  1. Rare find-Birland
    Friday,5th February 2021

    I have now real land
that tries to bring an end
    to the hostility
    and bring in stability

    rarely you find a gesture
    from a royal for sure
    but here king encourages
    and manages peace drive

    such a land i.e Birland
    can be friendly and supportive
    for the cause
    and has chosen it

    it is his vision
that tries to put some correction
    in the peace initiative
by bringing in new indicative measures

the land shall bear a mark
    and start
with the holy concept of peace land
for everybody to show the same trend
