Poem by Wendy Mary Lister

***

Scales against
the sky,

like perplexed
butterflies

A slow
transition –

where flavours
gather –

A fragrant
doorway,

between
the living

and dying;
It brings

nostalgia
to a room;

Silence gets
louder,

slaps city
—hard

Stretching
sobs

through new
leaf
