Poem by Gayatree G Lahon
The Pensive River
A pensive river flows through his pastoral village
Resonating his despondent soul
Their rendezvous, though an insubstantial image
Her songs were like those soft , unheard melodies
Wandering around his heart’s meadow
An echo of his rhythmic heartbeats
But in the jungle of concrete
Full of high rise buildings and crowds multitude
He missed the river and his solitude
The deafening sophisticated noise grabbed his inner space
He succumbed to the city lights and stood in the race
But at deep midnight when the city sleeps
The river emerges in his dreams
Souls entwined, again they sail in ethereal realms…
