HALF IN PINK AND HALF IN WHITE 2 / Poem by Ibrahim Honjo

HALF IN PINK AND HALF IN WHITE 2

You passed by stunning like that
Desirable, seducing, and fascinating
We took in each movement of yours
Half in pink and half in white

We did not hide our eyes
Nor our deep sighs or the trembling of our bodies
We celebrated your appearance at least a hundred times
Half in pink and half in white

You were a holiday for the whirlpools of our uncontrolled looks
We watched you, goddess of our everyday,
We watched you and saw you by our side
Half in pink and half in white

When you disappear behind a curve
We would go over to another place fast as lighting
To take in your walk with our blinded eyes
Half in pink and half in white

We killed each other with jealousy for you
None among us was the prince in shining armour
You passed defiantly knowing of our suffering
Half in pink and half in white

At night when everything was quiet and you were not near
We put out the fire of our jealousy and drank into a coma
In the morn, we waited for you at the same time and the same place
Half in pink and half in white

That morning you suddenly stopped
And gave us all red apples
You said goodbye, looked at each one of us, and left
Half in pink and half in white

You went away, you went away and you went away
We waited for you every day, every day, every day
Worrying about your invisible captivating steps
Half in pink and half in white.
