One Day I’ll Come Flying in the City – Poem by Dr. Jawaz Jaffri / Translated by Sara Ali Khan

Poem by Dr. Jawaz Jaffri

One Day I’ll Come Flying in the City

The gunpowder
Wrecked my bowers
And we lost
Our recourse
Darkness breeds off springs in our bylanes
My sunshine has grown pale
And fragrance has gone from my garden
The spring has shut its doors on me
The heaps of yellowed dry leaves
Are lying in every inch of our courtyards
The clock inside the crossway
Laments for me
My body’s defense has fallen
They are making death an easy option
But I love life
One day I’ll come flying in the city
From the east
