THE FRIGHTENED SPARROW – Poem by Pramod Kumar Sharma / Translated by M. A. Rathore

Poem by Pramod Kumar Sharma

THE FRIGHTENED SPARROW

Silently
Do bear everything,
Everything!

Every time
The darkness presses my nerves;
Starts snapping my spinal cord;
The eyes forget to see;
The tongue gets lost somewhere
In the stomach
Yet I bear everything silently
Every time!

Here sits the sun on the mount
Like the frightened sparrow;
Wants to say something;
Moves his lips….
But I am
Lurking in the dark.

I do not hear a single word!
Because I am afraid of the sun;
For I am born in the dark;
Just I use to think
Every time I have to bear everything
Silently
Every time! Every time!
