FLAMY ASHES / Poem by Natalia Govsha

Poem by Natalia Govsha

FLAMY ASHES

October, fiery,
you’ve burned my heart.
You’ve made me drunk
with your burgundy wine.
With a rebellious wind
you turned my head.

You hold the golden light
in your bestowing hands,
which in a flash
turns into the dried ash
of withering and trash.

I dared to fall
into the crystal prism
of your illusive
and enchanting glow.
And I became a ray
refracted by an edge
into different colors
and unknown feelings.

At first – the purest white,
which mean true life.
Then white turned into three –
blue, red and green.
And Paradise…And love…
And cloudless sky…
But in a flash
scarlet burned my heart,
and scattered ash
around on the ground.

October, fiery,
ignites all earthly flesh
with a golden flame,
alas in vain –
this same flame
turns into dead ash.
