Clothed in Embers / Poem by Lily Swarn

Poem by Lily Swarn
Clothed in Embers
Why did you come clothed in embers ?
Scalding my arms with your simmering fire
Casting your orange glow on my besotted visage
Suffusing my parched being with your luscious lava
Tinting me forever with your perennial dyes
Tattooing your heat on my pliable flesh
Come back to me in the spring of my youth
Don’t ask from me the love that you had tasted before
I’m a setting sun , do you hear me ?
Don’t be fooled by my brilliant radiance !
It’s just the drunk dance of a flickering flame .
