INVISIBLE BOUNDARIES / Poem by Dr. Jernail S. Aanand

Poem by Dr. Jernail S. Aanand
Men are put in prisons
To atone for their crimes
Are those who are sentenced outside
Without a prison date?
Is not womb a prison of soft tissue
And then this life,
Made to suffer a thousand indignities
And dispossesions?
When we grow up we look around
There is nothing over head
To stop our vision
And our journey upwards
Yes there are social taboos
Which block our thought
Yet, human spirit
Knows no bounds
Boundless is the sky
And borderless the vast expanses
Yet how far wings can fly
And how far these pedals can go?
We hardly move an inch from the place
Where we grow
Gods know
How far wings can go
As prisoners are
We are not bound by visible boundaries
Yet we are not free
And remain in a state of siege
Besieged not by winds, or waters
But the fall out of our actions
No ball can go beyond
The power with which it was spun.
