Poem by Natalia Govsha
WHO WOULD EXPLAIN…
Life… Death…
In a circle, closed.
Who would explain it.
Someone draws
ghostly lines
on the window, wet –
the wind has breathed
and dried it.
Someone leaves
footprints in the sand –
once, and the waves
wash them away.
Instead – meaningless
glass and shells.
In my eyes –
if garbage remains
instead of my life,
then why did I break
from heaven to earth
through the mother’s womb
into this world?…
Although … At least,
I did not fight
for any power and tried
not to kill by word or deed
on the path destined for me,
to freedom and truth.
Clarity beckoned
with wisdom, transparent,
which shows that I can
only know that
I know nothing and –
behind the clarity, apparent,
there was a fog
filled with pain,
blood and sweat.
Life… death…
In a circle, closed.
Who would explain –
Earth, man, Abel, Cain …
