Poem by Dr. Ranjana Sharan Sinha
FREEZING AND MELTING
The brown-winged hawks of
Incoherent schizophrenic thoughts
Perch on my fractured self,
I shoo them away to the stumps of trees:
A pair of curious eyes
Follow the umpteen wings
Opening and closing
In soundless motion.
Relieved, I close the shutters,
But the small stuffy space
Makes me feel claustrophobic–
A feeling of being stuck
In a crowded elevator!
Panic grips me, and I feel
Flattened as if pressed down.
A lonely linger down a dark alley
Painted in greyscale:
The air seems to be dead
With no breeze!
Tramelled, I trudge along
Suddenly I feel your presence,
Daisy- like chrysanthemums bloom;
The fragrance floods my senses,
Into an eternal embrace I sink:
A beauteous morning
Opens her eyes–
I freeze and melt!
