SING MY SONG WHILE GOING

evening delight full of sin
the day hides its secrets on it dark arm
let the moon whispers its light in your ear
sing my song while going
how many tales we worn out in the sleepless nights

isn’t it our eyes looking at the horizon
flowing from yesterday like red rivers
we are a town on which mountains basils blossom
our hearts got wet by embarrased rains
we hung on the rainbow and dried

the innocence is a ruined bridge
we forgot our childhood on it
we have been exiled from sinless times
and I passed through you, through the rivers inside you
I left the laments into your water by drawing a sigh

homeland folk songs full of longing
the poetry holds the images wits notes
the radio tunes were the tea we were drinking in the morning
that magical sound remained in our ears so
oh now, by “the blowing early morning wind” *
kiss my eyes, and sing my song while going

* Folk song compiled by Turkish musician Nida Tufekci

GİDERKEN ŞARKIMI SÖYLE

gün-ah ile dolu akşam sefası
karanlık kolunda taşır gün sırlarını
ay ışığı kulağına fısıldasın
giderken şarkımı söyle
ne çok masal eskittik uykusuz gecelerde

gözlerimiz değil miydi ufka bakan
kızıl şelaleler gibi günden akan
dağlarında fesleğen açan kasabaydık
mahçup yağmurlarla ıslandı kalbimiz
gökkuşağına asıp rüzgarda kuruttuk

masumiyet harap olmuş bir köprü
üstünde çocukluğumuzu unuttuk
sürgün edildik günahsız zamanlardan
ve senden geçtim, içindeki nehirden
iç çekerek ahları sularına bıraktım

hasret ile dolu memleket türküleri
şiir kolunda taşır notalı imgeleri
sabah içtiğimiz çaydı radyo ezgileri
o büyülü nida öylece kulağımızda kaldı
ah şimdi “sabahınan esen seher yeliyle” *
öp gözlerimi giderken şarkımı söyle

*Nida Tüfekçi türküsü
