Poem by Jenayah Hela Tekali
Narcissism : A Curse Or A Blessing ?
Neither am I enchanted by the beauty of Narcissus,
Nor by the bewitching charm of the Lotus
But by my own kind of humbleness,
In the pursuit of some truth of existence.
I am not bewildered by Eros and Psyche
But by my own silent soliloquy
Drown in the magic of my own monologue
Striving to reach the path of my prologue.
Neither am I the Goddess Minerva nor Aphrodite
I am pushed by the muse of my heartbeat
Diving in the object of my inspiration
Recollecting pieces of divine revelation.
Neither am I Aristotle nor Plato
But an avid reader of their Classical motto
I fall in love with the philosophy of my soul
Fleeing Naricissism to dissolve in my mystic goal.
Neither do I stand for the beast ,nor the beauty
I flee Narcissism to indulge in the province of poetry
Self love has never been a curse nor a blessing
It is my self reflection away from the orginal sin.
Neither am I driven by the earth ,nor the water
But propelled by some depth beyond matter
To see within the prophecy of my divine madness
In my Narcissism lies this encounter with my existence.
