Just like her / Poem by Sihem Cherif

Poem by Sihem Cherif

Just like her

Give me some petals, just like her I like flowers
You shunned my dry desert and you blessed her showers

Just like her, I was but a bud happy and kind
Dreaming of your smile, yearning for your child

Just like her, I was caught by your spell
Responded to your call, your name rang a bell

I smeared the red feather of your wing
Just like her, I wanted your winter lullaby and autumn song

Just like her, I dreamt of the ride by your side
Just like her, I dreamt of our swaying toes by the morning tide

Just like her, I thrilled at the pride of being your mate
But just unlike her, I was cheated by fate

She took all the giggles, the mirth, and the bulk
she left for me some memories and the void of a barren talk

Just like her, I wanted an ear, a smile, and a home
I wanted to rush and nestle in your eyes dome.
But, Alas

Had I but ink enough and quill
I would write the eulogy of a lost will
