A lecturer in the university and college in Bangladesh for English Literature of BA students Mohammad Mohi Uddin told me after reading my poems, and I quote “Simplicity is an ornament of a poet. It is in the simplicity of the words that you will find beauty and music.” Yes, it is one of my long-time dreams to be able to write poems and see it published. I have walked many paths and curves in life achieving to climb valleys, hills, and dales, I almost forgot everything about it. When I was a little girl, now I am an adult and still, I am small. I have been reading, reciting nursery rhymes which I heard from a glittering musical book given to me as a present by my grandfather we fondly called “Lolo Ipe”, (Felipe Pagdanganan). I love to sing and recite poems. I also did a lot of declamatory, oratorical, mimicry and monologue, lead roles in drama and musical drama performances from grade school up to my college years. I have also scribbled poetry and short stories and prepared some scripts for my monologue performances and drama play in school and church and my pupils. But I never thought of compiling them then to make a book. I love reading. My bedroom and working tables in school and in the house are filled with different books. But I used to own only Helen Steiner Rice poetry books from my College years. I have cherished it. Her poems inspired me a lot. I was a college student librarian of my Alma Mater Harris Memorial College when I found a US magazine with an advertisement that the book was on sale. I ripped the coupon, filled it up and sent it to my father who was working in Arabia. I am forever grateful to my father “Tatay Dico” who purchased it and after a month I received the 2 books of Helen Steiner Rice plus one gift. Until the only last year 2019, I started receiving poetry books of poets I met from international events that I attended and have now several collections of poetry books.
