Elena Danshina
I dedicate this Anti War Poem to my dear friend Elena Danshina, a famous poetess, translator and prose writer from Ukraine. I am very much worried about her as well as her family, friends and homeland due to the war crisis.
Warriors Do Not Have The Hearts
I am in search of a heart,
In which miseries,
Of my people could breath;
And the warriors
Do not have the hearts.
My people are born,
But without peace and liberty;
They remain alive.
And die.
When we wished,
To speak for our rights,
Our voices stuck,
To the vocal-cords.
We are the numbers,
With which rulers play,
The game of plus and minus.
Hearken! The eye of glass,
Is always sans sight,
I have the song,
But not the voice;
You have the voice,
But not the song.
Let us then sing
The song altogether,
For the birds
Have forsaken to sing.
I in the concert when sing
The song of peace,
In appreciation get disgust,
As if the people
Have conspired with the Death.

Dear poet, your poem goes deep into the heart. It is an highly emotive account of the horrors of war. War mongers neither have heart nor conscience. You said very poignantly in your poem “ you have the voice/ not the song”, so true.
I hope your poem will stir conscience of these war mongers at least a bit.
