A MAN IN A ROOM

A man in a room.
A sunny afternoon.
He thinks about a walk in the park –
looks at the sky,
at the treetops.
A bird sits on a bough.
It sings.
The man climbs the tree.
Listens to the bird,
tries to imitate its call,
then looks down
and sees himself
falling from the tree.

THIS IS NOT LANGUAGE

this is not language
a house of words
                  the interpreter of ignorance
a small jigsaw puzzle
one letter more or less

a doubt
about the persistence of storytelling
                  a prophet’s confession
a vanished world
Atlantis submerging

this is not the window door
and these aren’t all the rooms
                 a chair to sit in
after making a poem
you must not enter it

THIS IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD

this is not the end of the world
the river remains beside the stone
                            feminine
feeling the shape of the morning
flowing past the sky

you throw a stone into the water
and it does not sink
it floats on the surface of patience
when the sun goes down
the stone shimmers

you look at death
which always stares at you
                           and say out loud
the deadness grows with me
this is not a stone without a world
