The man in the Shikara ( Lilies of the Valley) / Poem by Lily Swarn

Poem by Lily Swarn

The man in the Shikara

The veil slipped down from her silken head
Again and again
She carefully put it up with an ease born of practice
Again and again
Her eyes smiled mischievously biting her lower lip with guilt
The laughter gurgled below her throat
Again and again
The man in the shikara kept nodding off to sleep
Again and again
His chin colliding with his chest shaking him awake
Again and again
He was her betrothed and she was watching him secretly
Again and again
