Poem by Pushmaotee Subrun
What Makes Life Worth Living?
The way we live our lives account much undeniably,
For our prosperity or adversity,
Our health or sickness and our overall wellbeing.
If we think life is a long picnic for simply relaxing
And wait for manna from heaven,
We shall be disillusioned.
.
Indeed, as we sow, we reap. Being good to ourselves,
Righteous in our deeds, our thoughts, and decisions
Respecting basic values, having love and compassion
For one and all, irrespective of caste, colour or creed,
We are bound to lead peaceful lives indeed.
.
In this very testing pandemic,
We are supposed to observe strict
Discipline of social distancing, wearing mask in public,
Getting vaccinated, thus, protecting ourselves,
Our family, everybody around us
And giving less trouble to the medical sector.
.
We need to be responsible citizens,
And help in our milieu’s protection,
Keeping it clean. If each of us behave responsibly
.
There would be less propagation so deadly
Of the ravaging pandemic. Otherwise,
We shall have to face disastrous consequences.
