SHARED DREAMS / Poem by Jagdish Prakash

Poem by Jagdish Prakash

I shared your dreams
Despite the different times
To which we belonged,
As the theme of our dreams was common,
The arch of rainbow after the first rain
stretched a common string
Of hope in our eyes,
The same as of our thoughts, raw and passionate.
A common strand of wishes,
A shared desire for the night
Lived on wet sands
Spent together
On an anonymous sea shore
Singing lullabys to the pole star.

Look around ,
The arch of the ruined cathedral
Where we once prayed
Is still intact
Hold my hand let us go in
And pray for restoration of that time,
Pray for those hallucinations
Which we weaved together
Running between the calendar dates
Year after year.
